Autoimmune Disease Pen Pal Program

Update:

Thank you to all who signed up and showed interest with the program since its start spring 2015. If you missed the fall sign ups, take heart! Sign ups will open again in spring.

How’d this all start?

I began working on this idea in May of last year after rediscovering my love for snail mail. I originally planned on finding a pen pal group to join…

Then it hit me.

AIP Community

There are so many people with autoimmune disease/chronic illness that could greatly benefit from having a pen pal.

Someone who gets it. Someone who understands the struggles and has been there. Someone who can inspire, motivate, and relate to you. Likewise, someone YOU can inspire, motivate, and relate to. We rise by lifting others.

The autoimmune disease community and pen pals… Why not merge two of my faves into one incredibly awesome method for awesome people to connect in awesome ways?!

Autoimmune Disease Pen Pal Program

Awesome, right?

    * This program kicked off with a trial program and received such a great response! I look forward to continuing to help you connect with others. As I make adjustments as needed and fine-tune this program along the way, I appreciate your patience.

    * Due to my own time commitments, this program will open up sign ups TWICE yearly. As you can imagine, matching pen pals every month was incredibly time-consuming. Each pen pal pair will write back and forth freely. If a pair has hit it off they’re more than welcome {and encouraged} to continue writing to one another at their discretion. πŸ˜‰

    * For the pen pal novice, consider reading my primer posts: Perks to Having a Pen Pal and Pen Pal Tips. You can also check out my Pen Pal Inspiration board on Pinterest if you’re so inclined.

Worthy mentions:

    * You don’t have to be following the paleo autoimmune protocol {AIP} or a paleo lifestyle to join this program.

    * My intention for this program is to connect people and break the sense of isolation that often comes with autoimmune disease and chronic illness. It is my hope that members are able to find common threads that go well-beyond their diseases/symptoms/struggle.

    * We are stronger than our diagnoses. Our bodies are meant to heal. Everyone is in their own chapter in life. This is an important thing to remember, no matter which chapter you happen to be in. β™₯

Want in on the fun? Yeah, you do!

The following survey should take *about* ten minutes of your time to fill out. When you see “Thank you, your response has been recorded. I will be in touch with your pen pal match!” you’ll know your response was sent to me.

The information you submit will NOT be shared with any other parties, the only exception being your pen pal once I match. Also, be sure to add me to your email contacts. During the test group, emails slipped through the cracks and some people missed my emails matching them up (first world problems that can be avoided).

Feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.

Hello Erin and Happy New Year! I heard your recent interview with Eileen on Phoenix Helix. Then went to your page for the Beef liver pate with caremalized onions which I’ll be rustling up in the next couple of days. YUM. Thank you. Then I saw the pen pal in the menu bar and here I am, I’d love to join this in February so I’ll keep a look out. Good to be with you on the journey. πŸ™‚ <3
